Male Arrested for Theft, Heroin, Obstructing and Possessing Five Handguns with Ammo at The Galleria Mall
On December 18, 2020, around 2:45 p.m., officers assigned to the Glendale Police Department’s Downtown Policing Unit received a call from a business at the Galleria Shopping Mall reporting that a male appeared to be preparing to do a “grab and run” type theft.
The male, identified as 28-year-old Tigran Zmrukhtyan of Glendale, was seen entering a fitting room with merchandise and then leaving the fitting room wearing some of the merchandise. Zmrukhtyan then exited the store without paying for the items.
Officers attempted to detain Zmrukhtyan once he exited the store, but Zmrukhtyan ran from them. Officers caught up to him and, after a struggle, were able to handcuff Zmrukhtyan. Upon doing so, officers located a loaded handgun in his waistband. He was also found to be in possession of a pair of bolt cutters, a plastic baggy of heroin and a methamphetamine pipe.
Employees from the business alerted officers that Zmrukhtyan had left a duffle bag in the store prior to exiting. Officers took possession of the bag and inside of it they located four additional handguns (three of which were loaded), multiple loaded handgun magazines and boxes of ammunition (containing over 200 rounds of live ammunition) along with evidence of identity theft.
Zmrukhtyan was subsequently arrested and booked for possessing firearms while on probation, possessing firearms with a controlled substance, felony obstructing, forgery and theft.
