On May 23, 2026, Glendale City Council candidates, Patrick Murphy and Beth Brooks, received a very special honor and shout-out from Robby Krieger, legendary songwriter and guitarist for The Doors, at the opening of his show at the Whisky A Go-Go in West Hollywood.
Glendale is a city that holds a lot of meaning to Robby Krieger. In addition to owning Love Street Sound recording studio in our great city, Krieger is also the co-creator and sponsor of GUSD’s “The Music Path,” a program based at Hoover High School, designed to build a supportive community among high school musicians, emerging artists, and all passionate about the spirit of Contemporary Music.
Robby Krieger frequently supports various charitable causes in and around Glendale, California. Many of his local appearances are linked to music education, the arts, and veterans’ organizations; including:
–Love Ride. Krieger has lent his name and talent to the event which has netted proceeds supporting causes such as MDA, with some funds locally targeted for the Glendale Community College. The annual ride starts in Glendale.
–Adopt the Arts, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving arts and music education in public schools.
–Asian Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony: He frequently performs at the annual induction ceremonies hosted in Glendale, which recognize Asian leadership and advance Asian equity. Past events have taken place at the Alex Theater and his Glendale recording studio.
–ace/121 Gallery (April 2024): Robby Krieger held a private artist reception and an intimate performance linked to his art exhibit titled “Light My Fire”.
Robby Krieger invited both candidates backstage before the show where they took photos and discussed some issues that are important to residents of Glendale. Prior to the show opening, both were invited onstage, where Robby Krieger introduced them to the audience. Taking a line from his classic Doors song, “Roadhouse Blues,” Krieger asked the audience “Do you want to save our city?” He also referenced the candidates’ desire to prevent undesirable policy and preserve Glendale’s quality of life. He then thanked each candidate, and returned shortly afterward to do a flawless set of classic Doors songs.
Patrick Murphy then returned to the campaign trail, and Beth Brooks joined the band backstage where she further discussed Glendale policy with Robby Krieger and keyboardist, Ed Roth, another concerned Glendale resident.
