At the Royal Canyon Property Owners Association Candidate Forum on April 19, 2026, Patrick Murphy addressed the City Council censorship policy of hiding the faces of public speakers.
The policy was originally enacted by council members Dan Brotman and Elen Asatryan, after 30 years of the city allowing the faces of public speakers to be shown. Dan Brotman and Elen Asatryan wanted to erase the faces of pubic speakers who question their decisions or may want to run against them in future elections in hopes that it would deter public speakers and give them an election advantage.
